Ship Piping Engineer

Role and Core Responsibilities

  • Piping System Design: Designing piping systems for various fluids, including water, oil, fuel, and refrigerant.
  • Material Selection: Selecting appropriate pipe materials based on fluid properties, pressure, temperature, and environmental conditions.  
  • Piping Layout: Developing piping arrangements considering space constraints, accessibility, and weight distribution.
  • Stress Analysis: Conducting stress analysis on piping systems to ensure structural integrity.
  • Piping Support Design: Designing pipe supports and hangers to prevent pipe movement and vibration.
  • Isometric Drawing Preparation: Creating detailed piping drawings for fabrication and installation.
  • Material Take-off: Preparing material lists for piping components.
  • Installation Supervision: Overseeing the installation of piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Conducting hydrostatic and pneumatic tests on piping systems.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Developing maintenance plans and procedures for piping systems.

  • Fluid Mechanics: Understanding fluid behavior in piping systems.
