Roles and Core Responsibilities

  • System Design: Developing electro-optical systems for various applications, including imaging, sensing, communication, and targeting.
  • Optical Component Design: Designing optical components such as lenses, mirrors, filters, and detectors.  
  • Electrical System Design: Designing electronic circuits and power supplies for electro-optical systems.
  • System Integration: Combining optical and electrical components into a functional system.
  • Testing and Evaluation: Conducting tests to evaluate system performance and reliability.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Using computer software to simulate system behavior and optimize designs.  
  • Research and Development: Exploring new technologies and materials for electro-optical applications.
  • Laser Systems: Designing and developing laser-based systems for various applications, such as ranging, communication, and material processing.
  • Imaging Systems: Developing cameras, sensors, and image processing algorithms for applications in surveillance, medical imaging, and remote sensing.
  • Fiber Optics: Designing and analyzing fiber optic communication systems.  
  • Optical Sensors: Developing sensors for measuring physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, and strain.

Subjects (Be familiar with these subjects)

  • Electronic Circuit Design – Understanding the design and analysis of analog and digital circuits, including amplifiers, filters, oscillators, and power electronics. Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits is crucial.
  • Embedded Systems – Knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and real-time operating systems (RTOS). This includes programming in languages like C/C++ and understanding the integration of hardware and software in embedded systems.
  • Communication Systems – Proficiency in communication theory and technologies, including analog and digital modulation techniques, signal processing, wireless communication, and networking. This is essential for designing and optimizing defense communication systems

Software (Learn how to use these software)

  • MATLAB/Simulink – For simulation, modeling, and analysis of electronic systems, including control systems, signal processing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Altium Designer or Eagle – For PCB design and layout, including schematic capture, board design, and circuit simulation.
  • LabVIEW – For designing and managing test and measurement systems, including data acquisition, signal processing, and automated testing systems.
